Terms of Service

Revision of July 2, 2026

These Terms govern the relationship between the operator of the Novellatte service (the “Operator”, the “Service”) and the user. Signing up for the Service constitutes full acceptance of the Terms; the moment of acceptance is recorded in the account.

1. General provisions

The Service is an interactive visual novel platform: readers play published stories, and authors create them in a visual editor using content generation tools.

By using the Service, the user agrees to comply with these Terms, the Personal Data Processing Policy (/privacy), and — when making purchases — the Public Offer (/offer).

2. Account and roles

An account is required to access the full functionality of the Service. The user agrees to provide accurate information and to keep their password secure; actions taken from an account are deemed actions of its owner.

The Service has the following roles: “reader” (reading novels), “pretendent” (creating novels published in the enthusiasts section), and “author” (full publication). The author role is granted via an administrator's invite code or automatically upon reaching a reader-likes threshold. The “moderator” and “administrator” roles are assigned only by the Operator.

3. User-generated content

Exclusive rights to novels, texts, and other materials created by the user (the “Content”) remain with their author.

By publishing Content, the author grants the Operator a free non-exclusive license to use it to the extent necessary for the operation of the Service: storage, reproduction, display to users, technical processing, creation of translations using Service tools, and inclusion of fragments in the catalog showcase.

The author warrants that the Content does not infringe the rights of third parties, including copyright, and bears full responsibility for it, including materials created using the Service's generation tools.

4. Paid branches and author revenue

An author may set a price in coins for individual story branches. When a reader unlocks a paid branch, the revenue is split 70% to the author and 30% to the Operator (the current fee value is displayed in the interface and may be changed by the Operator with notice to authors).

Earned coins are recorded on the author's balance. Withdrawal terms will be defined separately as the corresponding functionality launches.

5. Moderation and prohibited content

Novel publication goes through a two-stage review: automated (AI analysis) and manual (moderator). The publication decision is made by a moderator; following the review, Content may be returned for revision.

Content violating the laws of the Russian Federation is prohibited on the Service, including:

  • extremist materials, calls to violence, and incitement of hatred;
  • materials infringing copyright or other rights of third parties;
  • pornographic materials; 18+ content without appropriate labeling;
  • promotion of narcotic drugs, information on methods of suicide;
  • other materials whose distribution is prohibited by law.

The Operator may reject, unpublish, or delete Content violating the Terms and, in case of material or repeated violations, restrict or block the account.

6. Age restrictions

Every novel is assigned an age rating (0+, 6+, 12+, 16+, 18+) displayed in the catalog. Access to 18+ content is granted only after the user confirms they are of legal age.

By using the Service, the user confirms that they have reached the age required to accept these Terms under the laws of the Russian Federation, or act with the consent of a legal representative.

7. Limitation of liability

The Service is provided “as is”. The Operator does not guarantee uninterrupted operation of the Service or the safety of drafts if the user violates the editor usage rules, and is not responsible for user Content prior to its review.

The Operator is not liable for losses arising from the use of or inability to use the Service, except in cases expressly provided for by the laws of the Russian Federation.

8. Final provisions

The Operator may amend the Terms; the new revision takes effect upon publication at /terms. Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the new revision.

The relationship between the parties is governed by the law of the Russian Federation. Questions and requests: support@novellatte.ru.
